How it works
Your browser reads the photo, finds its main subject with a small open model (U²-Netp), estimates how far away each part of it is with another (Depth Anything V2 Small), and turns the picture into tens of thousands of motes of light, each with its own colour and depth, with light flowing through them. The models download once (about 25–32 MB) and then stay in your browser’s cache.
Private by design
The photo, everything read from it and the clip stay on your device: we never receive them, and there’s no face recognition or anything that tells people apart. If you leave your email for the HD version, that address is the only thing sent to us. Privacy
